SPORTING APPLICATIONS

Our nonwovens are used extensively in the composite sporting goods industry and provide a wide range of benefits. These include improving interlaminar fracture toughness or delivering a high quality surface finish. The uniform fibre distribution minimises the problem of print through and ensures a uniform resin uptake, whilst simultaneously imparting surface functionality such as abrasion & corrosion resistance, static dissipation and electrical conductivity if required.

Our OPTIVEIL® and OPTIMAT® materials also provide a processing benefit, reducing the time for complete resin wet out of reinforcement materials and improving the degassing of dry fabric prior to infusion. The broad choice of fibre we offer ensures the required aesthetic finish and performance, as well as aiding system & process compatibility.

The applications are varied, but our materials are used effectively in the following sporting goods:

  • Bicycle frames and wheel rims
  • Kayak paddles
  • Hockey and ice hockey sticks
  • Skis and ski poles
  • Snowboards
  • Walking poles
  • Archery materials
  • Tennis racquets
  • Fishing rods
